so my boyfriend and i live together. we're planning on getting married in like, 4 years, but shhhh it's a secret.
sooo...what do i call his parents? they aren't my in-laws (yet) but saying "my boyfriends dad and stepmom" and "my boyfriends mom" sounds weird and too wordy.
    ...any ideas?

Are they ok with you just using their names?

do you mean when you're speaking to them, or referring to them when speaking with others? if the first, i'd think that addressing them by their names would be fine. actually that would work for the second, too, but then you may have to explain who 'bob' and 'mary' are. if you and your bf are planning on getting married, i'd think it would be safe to refer to them as your in-laws, or your in-laws-to-be. my mother-in-law is engaged (and has been for like 10 years, but that's a whole other story), and i refer to her fiance as my father-in-law; it's just easier than calling him my mother-in-law's fiance or my wife's future stepdad.

"Future in-laws" is the term I've heard used.

          In-laws to be, maybe?
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

You could always call them the outlaws as they're technically not your in-laws (yet).

But that is dependant on their sense of humour (and yours).

I would just call them in-laws anyway. My brothers gfs have always been my SIL, it is a lot easier and gets the relationship across.

If they're anything like mine, then they're called "The-reason-I-drink-so-much-Rum".

Yeah ... Don't like them myself.

However, you can refer to them as your in-laws.

Or you could ask them what they would like you to call them.
