...arrived for me today, and it's only one sentence long:
Granted, I'll be happiest when I actually cash the check (they made it out to "Joi," which is my middle name, but my full name including the middle is on the bank account, so it should be ok), but: I am officially a paid freelancer!
Now to figure out how to make it pay enough to quit my job...
(and I'm sure everyone's tired of hearing about this, so I won't post any more about it until the book is published in the fall, I promise!!

Dear Joi, I am pleased to enclose a fully executed contract for your contribution to Jonah Goldberg's anthology, as well as a check as payment for your work.
