I took this morning off work to bring our cat, Goldie, to the vet's at 11:00. We made the appointment because she had stopped eating suddenly and just wasn't acting right.
The news wasn't good and we had to make the decision to euthanize her rather than put her through the trauma of multiple treatments to exend her life only a few days or weeks.
She died very peacefully with both me and our daughter with her. And she had 16 wonderful and fun years living with us.
It was the right thing to do but it still really, really SUCKS.
Here is a picture we took a month ago. One of her favorite hobbies was sleeping just the right distance for the heat vent to keep herself warm but not too warm.
She always ran to the door to greet me when I came home from work and found creative ways to get you pay attention to her. She loved having people handle her and play with her. A very outgoing and affectionate companion. Even people who didn't care for cats enjoyed her company.
We're going to miss her.
