"So you would like an eighth of pound, ma'am?"
"No! I want a quarter of a half a pound!"
"Ok, so you would like a quarter of pound then."
"NO! I want..."

Easiest way at that point is to show her the 1/8 pound of meat, then see if she wants more or less. Yeesh.
