  • A sily personal rant

Warning: This is probably petty and childish.

While going through stuff in my attic, I realized that two stuffed animals my aunt had made weren't in the bin with the rest of them. Despite looking everyone, and convincing my father to search his house, I can't find them. They're too big to have been accidentally thrown or given away. I went through every inch of my old apartment multiple times (despite the paranoid part of my brain insisting that I must have missed looking behind a door. But I didn't. I checked everything 4 times, because I knew this exact situation would happen.), so they couldn't have been left there. They were never even at the apartment before that, as I left all the old ones at Dad's. Either they vanished during another move, or at some point in the past, they'd gotten so ratty and decrepit that they had to be thrown away, and I don't remember. The fact that I can't remember what happened to them is almost more disturbing than losing them, it's weird.

Argh! A 35-year-old woman going nuts over a stuffed animal! But my aunt made them for me, and I feel so bad. Maybe writing this down will make it bother me less.

Not so silly. I have a few lego figures that look a certain way. (Head, Legs, Body, Hands), that I refuse to let change. They were my friends for many years.

I also have a stuff animal that I can't get rid of. I've had it for so many years. As a joke my mom and her friend would hang it. Until I started to get nearly violent over it. Fluffy was a friend that wouldnt insult or reject me. I didn't take it kindy to having people hanging him for amusment.

I have a teddy bear that was born the same year as me (his tag says so). I'd be very sad if something happened to him.

Half the time I still sleep with my favorite teddy bear. I also have a canvass chest full of stuffed animals that I can't quite bring myself to get rid of.

I understand sentimental value. I'm a momma's girl and keep a stuffed pig she gave me. I also have a ring she gave me which only fits the ring finger of my left hand. If I ever get engaged I'm gonna have a hard time taking it off to make room for the rock.

I'm past the age where life supposedly begins at & I still have my teddies including one that I was given at birth and a very battered one from my mums childhood, I'd be devastated if they went astray.

I lost all my old soft toys moving from my old house into my husbands. I haven't a clue what happened to them and I'm gutted. And because of Toy Story I'm like a child thinking that my toys all think I've abandoned them.

I have a blanket made by my grandmother that has been patched and resewn so many times.... it's now sitting in a basket needing to be patched again. I nearly snapped my son's head off when he pulled it out to play with it.

When i turned 21 I went to Las Vegas, and the only thing I wanted from my mommy for my birthday, was teddy bear, dressed up like a Wizard from Excalibur hotel/casino - why? b/c 1 he's damn cute, and 2 I didn't have anything else to cuddle when I went to bed, and wasn't sleeping well. (which can really ruin a vacation)

I still sleep with a teddy bear, and have a Large box of stuffed animals in the garage, (they used to be in 2 lawn and leaf garbage bags, but those got ripped in moving them out of storage)

and the fact that your Aunt made them for you - those are the kind of thing that go up on the top shelf, or on top of the entertainment center, or dresser, and when someone asks "why is that there " you reply "my aunt made it for me"

I have a teddy bear I got in high school, one I got when I was in the Army (and slept with!) and one that is about as old as me with bald spots and a zillion holes that have been sewn up.

I don't think you're silly at all. I'd be heartbroken if any of my bears got lost.

I had a teddy bear that had been mine since I was born. I called him Aurthur.... a few years ago I was going through all my old stuffies and couldn't find him, I panicked and mom told me she had to throw him out because he had gotten flattened in the move and was ruined....

I cried like a little baby.

So don't feel bad, we all have our sentimental things.

Nope, not petty or silly at all.

I have a unicorn puppet my aunt made me when I was 9 or so, and I take better care of it than most of my stuff. It's special to me and I've had it for nearly 30 years, now and I'd be absolutely livid were anyone to let anything happen to it.
