  • Which Quilt Do i want....

So since im moving in with my dad for 3 months (sudder) im thinking of making a quilt while i have the space to do it.

since im not big on patterns for anything buy clothing ive never had a quilt pattern that was no basic blocks and have no idea how/desire to find an actual pattern.

So i opened up paint and laid out what to me would be to very pleasant patterns with my butterfly fabric, and if i can get them floral or stripy or blocky fabric with pink blue or yellow in them.

Heres the patterns i worked out.

    very octigony when laid out

    Very Squary when laid out

now i understand if these patterns have names but i dont know them.

    I don't know which one i like...

I don't quite follow your second one. Is it just that centre block repeated? Because I don't see how what you posted tessellates, and it doesn't repeat.

I vote for the squary one, just because if it's your first quilt, you don't want anything too difficult.

And as a quilter I'm going to add the obligatory "make sure all your fabrics are 100% cotton" thingee. Cotton fabrics tend to respond the best to the "abuse" that quilting does.

Also I'd add that if this is your first quilt, start out with something small. A good friend of mine started quilting by making a king size. It took her 7 years and she finished it out of hate.

Whenever I make a larger quilt, I am very happy to get it finished, so that I can look at something else! Often it takes me a month or more to finish anything twin-size and up, and I've been quilting for over 8 years. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions during the quilting process, I'd be happy to answer them for you. Sorry it's taken me a bit to respond, had to argue with a cranky oven which filled the house with smoke.

                      I also vote for pictures.
