My sister informed me that she knows of a small dog in her area in need of a home. The people who have it now don't want it anymore because they're having a second child (). It's a Poodle/Lhasa/Pom mix and they've stopped keeping her in the house for whatever reason, and she is now being kept OUTSIDE in North Carolina winter. The people who own the dog's mother are desperately trying to rehome it and told my sister they would consider shipping the dog to me (north FL) if I paid for it. I've looked but I can't seem to get an estimated figure on what that kind of thing costs. I could probably swap shifts with someone at work so that my two day weekend becomes three, but I'd rather not make that kind of trip in such short time if I can help it. Anyone have experience with shipping dogs?

For some reason this was the first website I thought of...
http://www.PetsOvernight.com
I think that Treasure's link is more useful.

Don't know if you'd qualify for this one, but http://www.operationroger.rescuegroups.org/ would definitely be hard to beat price-wise.Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

My first thought was "it's cheaper if the dog isn't alive."
What? What? Yeah, I'm a sick bastard, but that doesn't mean I was SERIOUSLY thinking that. Hell, even if I hated dogs (I like them, and tolerate most of them other than the yippers, yappers, and rats-pretending-to-be-dogs), I wouldn't even think about doing something like that. My little sister works with dogs for a living, and she would KILL me for that.
