  • Life's Little Playlist

Thought of this from my latest post, and thought it would be better as its own thread. In keeping with the What Games are You Playing and What Books Are You Reading threads, what songs do are you listening to or do you listen to that apply to your life? If I went for my full list, it would be mostly Queen (yes, that's hilariously ironic given my gender situation) and Pink (I swear Greatest Hits.... So Far should have been titled "Kara: The Official Soundtrack").

Here's my most current playlist of relevancy.

I'm Coming Out - Diana Ross
Get This Party Started - Pink
Just Like A Pill - Pink
Don't Let Me Get Me - Pink
Under Pressure - Queen + David Bowie
    Breakthrough - Queen
Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
The Show Must Go On - Queen
Somebody To Love - Queen (And how DARE that little shit Bieber steal the title for one of his songs)
Goodbye to Romance - Ozzy Osborne
Stand in the Rain - Superchick
Beautiful - Christina Aguilera (I hate her, but like this one)
    I Won't Back Down - Tom Petty
Bring Me to Life - Evanescence (Thanks Jester)

I would include "Family Portrait" by Pink, but I can't actually bear to listen to it anymore because it describes my family life in hauntingly close detail and I can imagine my own daughter saying those words. I'm literally tearing up right now just thinking about it.
    "You are loved" - Plaidman.

The lyrics to "The Show Must Go On" describe the situation in this town so well, it's not funny...

For me, personally, the Moody Blues' "New Horizons," also "Memory" from Cats, Kathy Mar's "Water, Fire and Smoke" and Annie Lennox "Into the West" (from the 3rd LOTR film, Return of the King). There are probably more but I'm too tired to think of them right now.
When you start at zero, everything's progress.

I knew I'd forget some: Queen's "I Want to Break Free."

This is the soundtrack I made to describe a typical day where I work:

The Gas Man Cometh - Flanders and Swan
Chains on Me - feat. Dan Povenmire, from the Phineas and Ferb movie
          Machinehead - Bush
Busybusybusy - Kevin Kline from Philadelphia Chickens
If You're Gonna Be Dumb - Roger Allen Wade
Can't Get it Right Today - Joe Purdy
          Anybody Listening? - Queesryche
The Worst Day Since Yesterday - Flogging Molly
It's Five O'clock Somewhere - Alan Jackson feat. Jimmy Buffet
          Stand - REM
Wasted Rock Ranger - Great White
I'm Going Slightly Mad - Queen
          Got the Time - Anthrax
          I Need a Nap - Weird Al
They're Coming to Take Me Away - Napoleon XIV

Songs for Our Time - Flanders and Swan

One of my co-workers listened to this and said to me, "You have issues."

I said, "No. I have subscriptions."
