A Time Travel Joke is a joke that appears before it could have existed.
Here's an example:
In A Hard Day's Night, John Lennon, on the train, opens a bottle of Pepsi and, while the roadies are talking about Paul's grandfather, seems to be sticking it up his nose.
Apparently he's making a parody reference to snorting Coke, before people even did that.
Another one:
In the Doctor Who story "Colony in Space" (1971), Jo Grant is talking with one of the colonists, who is talking about something breaking down. Jo says "that's all right... Jim'll fix it", and they giggle.
Now, this seems to be a reference to the TV show Jim'll Fix It... except that it didn't appear until 1975.
