Y'all should be happy. The last few days down here have been chilly, by Key West standards, dropping today down into the fifties. Had to wear a sweatshirt when I went out, and I drove rather than even thinking about taking my bike or my scooter. Windy too, ya see.
For me, fifties (farenheit) is "leave my jacket in the truck" weather.

    • Haha. It's 35 degrees out today, I went outside to run a few errands with no coat and just a long sleeve shirt.

There's a wanted groundhog somewhere.....and I want him dead. It was below zero all damn weekend practically.

        • I've got a shotgun that will do nicely when our next approaching storm comes.

The weather guy better get ready for a punch in the face as well. That fucker goes "teehehe winter isn't over yet!"'

Fuck off and move back to the snow-ridden hellhole you came from.

          • Well it's been a fun week so far listening to all the speculation (read: people freaking out going OMGSNOWPOCALYPSE) over the approaching storm slated to hit us Thursday. I've heard people say we're supposed to get twenty inches of snow. As one the weathermen on the local channel said... "Um. No." Right at the moment, they're forecasting 5 to 10 inches, I think. Oh, and then wind. That's always fun. I'm supposed to work a double on Thursday. As it is, I'll probably get in to open the store, get sent home early, and stay home. *sigh* Oh well.

              and then it rained

              and it rained some more

              and it rained some more

and then around 10pm it started to snow ----- not your ordinary snow but WET, SOGGY, SLOPPY, SLUGY WET WETWET SNOW. and it continued to snow wet heavy sloppy soggy snow as I write this post.

OH and then the temps started to fall into the mid teens and the wind picked up to around 30MPH.

Great now I will have to scrape the frozen crap off my car in the morning.
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

              • Winter is still here apparently; it sleeted/rained/snowed yesterday for a little while, but the majority of it is apparently going to hit us tomorrow and Thursday. 5-10 inches (maybe 3, maybe 12, who's counting says the weatherman) of snow and ice, then we warm up and another one hits next week.

We are just getting all the stuff together in case we lose power as my DIL is pregnant and needs to be taken care of (a WHOLE nother story).

I know it goes w/o saying, but be EXTRA careful out there today r-man. From just the bits and pieces I caught on the radio it is a huge mess. 48(?) car pile up on 41, and random other stupid.

                  • It's just 0 or below right now.

This is getting so old, so fast.

Someone at work pointed out the other day, because this winter has been made up of more clippers followed by cold snaps followed by more clippers and systems of the such, it's why people keep getting sick and why we've had just a shit winter. We've gotten too much snow, and too much cold. Our snow average is nearly 2 feet more than last year, and we beat below zero records in January. IIRC, if we have anymore below zero days, it'll be a record breaker for February as well, because usually that nonsense ends in the beginning of the month.

                    • We're supposed to get more snow Thursday night/Friday. Not looking forward to it. My back is finally recovering from the last one. One good thing - even though it's below freezing, the sun angle is getting good enough now to start melting snow below freezing. I like that.

                        • Wind chills in the teens below zero here at the moment...snow on the way Thursday. How much? Well...First they thought ten inches, then 3.9 this morning, and just now on the ten o'clock newscast they said 5 or 6. We'll see. Either way, I'm pretty sure I'm only going to be working one of the two shifts I was supposed to have on Thursday!

No shit. I have barely been out of bed and able to sit at my desk in months. It feels like someone is trying to disjoint me with a butterknife.

On the plus side, we are well set up for a power outage more or less. We have the generator [unfortunately it doesn't do 220 so we can't run the water pump in our well, but we have a full hot tub so we can water the poultry and haul flushing water.] We dug out our camp shower so we can have nice hot showers by either using the unit to heat the water or by transferring water heated up on the wood stove. I would still love to get the solar setup, but am reluctant to spend that kind of money for solar right now, at least without a lot more research into solar. And of course we can heat and cook with the wood stove.

THIS SUCKS. I hate when my car windows freeze shut 2 or 3 times a day.

                              • I wanted to order a pizza the the other night, but didn't because after what I'd been through, I didn't want to put the delivery person at risk. I had to go to the library to print a form I really needed in order to straighten out a mess with the DMV. Now, it was bad enough I wasn't really supposed to be driving my car, and risking a ticket. But getting in an accident would be really bad, as the registration wasn't officially tied to the car I'm now driving. I just really didn't have any alternative to driving, as I had just found out everything was messed up. Anyway, it was an ice rink on the main drag. Going over the bridge on the way home I was going 5 mph. Everyone was driving excruciatingly slow. When I got to the bottom I started to slide, and just beyond the light were 2 people on the side, as they'd had a fender bender. I was so afraid I was going to hit them. And since this car was still reletively new to me, I, at that moment, realized she didn't have anti-lock brakes. Good thing I had the presence of mind to pump the brakes, and had remembered all the warnings about ice forming first on bridges since I'd moved here. I hadn't realized it was ice until the guy in front of me slowed waaaay down, but instantly I thought, Oh, ice.
