  • Mr Cleaning Man: Origins

I’m a laundry attendant and housekeeper at a rehab facility. I love my job in spite of the challenges: mainly coworkers who don’t care about their jobs and staff that thinks wash cloths and towels can be thrown away/torn up and will get replaced every 24/hours like a Skyrim shop.

After working in retail for over 20 years, I’ll still take this over running a register.

It was actually a resident who gave me the name. I was cleaning the unit and this woman drinks coffee like she’s a fish and it’s water, and she went into the unit’s shower room to use the toilet. This toilet was safe but it hadn’t been working since the Coolidge administration. She comes out and sees me and says, “Excuse me, Mr Cleaning Man, the toilet won’t flush.”

I decided that was my screen name.

Welcome aboard. I will also share the origin of my, although I may have done so years ago.

In my office is several pictures of US Civil War naval actions on my walls. The agency director was hosting an online chat and I wanted to participate but needed a chat name to hide my identity. Since many of the pictures featured ironclad ships I choose to use Ironclad Alibi as my chat name, and have kept using it in many forums since then.

The avatar icon I presently use is a drawing of the double turreted monitor USS Chickasaw.
"I don't have to be petty. The Universe does that for me."
