Hi there,

Found this site while doing some idle Googling. I'm currently working as a break/fix tech for a well known UK retailer, which isn't exactly as financially rewarding as I'd hoped for after doing C.S.@uni.

Still it beats software development <shudder> and it does give rise to some interesting stories.

If anyone watches family guy, my usual day is pretty close to the scene where Lois suppresses Peter's stupidity when the picture cuts to her brain with a large tumor dancing and singing "I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor".

Aye. Though the worst of it it's usually my co-workers that are the stupid ones. Especially the sales staff, at least the management know they know sweet fa where as sales know just enough to get themselves in trouble.

Couple of days ago I left 30mins before the store was supposed to close (and was off the next two days). Turns out a salesguy had a customer who wanted a memory upgrade in a new PC so he grabs "Desktop" memory (yeah it's a desktop he was selling so of course it'll work!), even the customer wasn't so sure but the sales guy swore blind all desktops take "desktop" memory and laptops take "laptop" memory - there's only ever been two types of memory.

Hmm.

Strangely enough - it was the wrong memory. What was worse was non of the stores in the country has the correct memory so we couldn't even sort it out except by refunding the money and telling the customer the sales guy was a pratt!
