It's not really sucky, but this woman calls, ask for a book, and I tell her it's not at our library but it's at other branches.

me:which library is near you and I can tell you if they have it (this keeps me from giving a list of 10 libraries, which leads to either the patron not paying attention or patron asking if "so and so" library has it, when I didn't list them)
patron: ok, how about a library in the SW side of town?
me: ok, the Blue branch and the Red branch.
patron: I don't know where they are.
me: Blue branch is off the beltway and x street. the Red branch is by the Wood mall.
patron: ok, how about close to downtown?
me: sorry, no branches near downtown.
patron: how about north?
(note: I live in one of the largest cities in the US. There are branches that are 70 miles from each other. So she really wants to travel, I guess)
Me: there's the Green branch, off of 43rd
patron: ok, can you see if my book came in? I'm embarrassed to say it. It's Why Men like Witches, except it's with a "b" instead of a "w".
Me: (I explain how she can check her account online to see when books are ready for her to pick up, then Ok, you are no. 4 out of 7 holds.
patron: so that means?
Me: that you are the fourth person in line waiting for the book.
patron: oh, ok, thank you.
