  • I'm not sure they should write our ads...

I received an invoice today from an ad agency that specifically handles the advertising for a local college.

We were paying for an ad in the current men's basketball guide which covers the '08 - '09 season.

While I'm sure it's just a typo, the invoice/contract states that we are paying $200.00 to advertise in the basketball guide from 2008 to 8009. I was thrilled that we got 6,000 years of advertising for an average of $0.03 per year.

To make it better, the address in their letterhead is perfectly correct. Except for the zipcode, which was off by thaaaaaat much. The zip code in the letterhead: xxx01. The actual zip code xxx67. Oops?

Fortunately, marketing assured me that we write the ad and provide it to them as a complete file. If they were writing our ads, I shudder to think of the SC madness a few typos could cause.

      Typos

      1-800-IBM-HELP vs 1-888-IBM-HELP

1 800 connects you to a porn line. and it is the main IBM help phone #.

With typos the church jokes come to mind.

For all those wanting to be little mothers please meet the pastor after church.
During the absence of our pastor, we enjoyed the rare privilege of hearing a good sermon when J.F. Stubbs supplied our pulpit.

so I guess be sure that if you are doing advertising make sure you message is fully understood.
