My new boss just got back from a week on holiday. At the new bar, all the customers know her, they know she's the boss. I should also note that she is HILARIOUS and VERY sarcastic, so this thread is not bashing her in anyway.

So, one of the resident, smelly, alcoholic regulars sees her chatting to another customer. He walks up to her.

Smelly Regular: Oh you're back! Did you miss me?
Boss: Of course! Do you know, I spent all of my holiday wondering how you were?!?!

She said it in the most cheerful and sarcastic tone I have ever heard.

The smelly regulars reply???

Smelly Regular: Thank you...that's made my day.

He wasn't being sarcastic.

Heheh. I've said or seen situations like that before. Just let them go on thinking it was genuine. It makes their day and heck, anyone with half a brain in the vicinity knew exactly what was going on.
