When someone picks up a pump in our petrol station the button for that pump will start flashing red on our till, but if the pump isn't turned on after a certain time it will stop meaning that the person has to put the pump down to reset it and pick it up again.
Today we had a woman who came in to fill up, but she took too long to put the pump in her car, which meant that it had to be put down again, which my CW asked her to do through the microphone. The woman put the pump on the GROUND instead of back in the holder and was looking around to see who was talking.
When she eventually filled up she came in to pay and asked if she had done anything wrong. My CW told her that she asked her to put the pump back in the holder in order to get it working. The woman then replied
"I thought it was a raid by the police. I was going to move away from the vehicle and put my hands up".
Needless to say that when she left me and both CW's proceeded to nearly wet our pants.
