No sucky customers this week, but I did have to explain our monthly statement to one of our customers... Some businesses have charging accounts, we mail out statements at the end of the month, they send a cheque. Simple, yes?
Customer: ... but I paid my account off.
Me: Yes, you did. See here (pointing to the statement) is the payment you made on August 25th, and here (point to the total) it shows that the account was paid off.
Customer: But why did I get a statement?
Me: You got a statement because here (pointing to another line) on September 9th, you charged more stuff. And again here on September 15th.
Customer: But why didn't that get paid when I paid it off?
Me: . . . . . Because it hadn't happened yet?
Customer: Ohhhhh...
I have to say, this customer is a really nice lady, but not the sharpest person I ever met. And yes, she does run a business of sorts... she's a rep for a home-based cosmetics company (like Avon, but not Avon specifically).
