Our store asks us to collect the store flyers from carts if the customer does not want them so they don't fly away outside and we can reuse/recycle them, especially towards the end of the sale week. Here was one exchange I had today when asking:
Me: Did you want to keep the flyer you have in your cart?
Customer: Do I want to keep the fire? What?
Me: No, the store flyer in your cart. Did you want to keep it?
Customer: I don't know what you mean. Flyer??
Seriously, who else doesn't know what a flyer is? It's a simple word! And for the first dumb part, I actually had someone once who thought I was telling her that her cart was on fire.
