    New development: My boss has announced that she's stepping down as branch manager and only working two days a week after the 1st of the year. She confided in me that she's been considering this for about 4 months, which would be about 3 months after Goodhair was hired. No idea who they're going to tap for the new branch manager. If it's Goodhair, I'm going to be looking for a different job.
    "I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

      Personally, I'd be looking for a different job now. Why? Because when everything finally blows up with Goodhair they'll be looking at the little people for having not blown the whistle. Even though you have made it clear that you don't trust the guy and have tried to do something about it, that won't matter - they'll still blame you.

      There is a very real possibility that Goodhair will indeed be moved into that spot. The circumstances related to his hiring and the situation in general suggest that he's probably someone's golden boy.

        100% agreed, the fact he's _still_ got this job after these loser loans proves that.

          The problem, I suspect, is that there's nothing showing wrong on the balance sheet yet - the loans he's done haven't had time to fall apart in all their glory yet.

            Start looking now. Even if Goodhair is not put into the spot (he may not want the responsibility) he will probably have input on whoever is, and they will simply be a yes person for him.

                    Well, you can at least take consolation in the fact that with the amount of cigarettes he smokes and the amount of alcohol he drinks he's going to end up with heart disease, liver failure, or some kind of cancer and maybe more than one of those and he WILL end up with COPD (emphysema/chronic bronchitis).

                      I'm still taking a "wait and see" attitude. Started looking for another job, but only half-heartedly.

                      Meanwhile, Goodhair sometimes emails us with his schedule. Yesterday's email said that he's leaving early today for a "late afternoon commitment." He didn't even bother to say it was an appointment. It's plain that he's starting his New Years celebrating early.

                        First, hope you get out of the way of this oncoming train wreck before it happens.

                        Isn't that wonderful? He practically admits he's skipping out of work! Anybody else would get the boot but not Goodhair!

                            Actually he's going out with family (or at least Old Grand Dad) for a VERY (i.e. one week) late Christmas dinner, with the main course being Wild Turkey.
