I hope..as for the standing.. the common dress is company scrubs and sneakers.

I guess I can finally stop wearing the black flight deck boots. Old habits die hard.
I got to talk to more people and I think we would work well together.
    So now the waiting game.

Well, dang. I was hoping you would be reporting good news.

However, don't give up hope. Many people take time off during the holidays. I wouldn't totally lose hope until the end of next week.

Here's hoping that if this door actually does close, that another one opens very quickly.

Yea well...Hey if they still call I'll answer. I swear my resume is sure death.

On the opening part starting in Jan the state will no longer charge Vets filling fees for LLC and naming such. Saving about $400 in start up costs. So I sent off to the BATF for all the forms and fingerprint cards to get my lic to sell guns. Now this will take the better part of 2017 but I think I'm done working for others. Ok I'll work for the Scouts if I ever get a paid position. I won't be able to collect unemployment once I start this but It's running out soon anyway. The holidays are over and camp season is a few months off maybe I'll go back to pimping guns on the weekend for some scratch and have plenty of time to be Mr Mom and get this off the ground.

So, it seems like you aren't planning on waiting for another door to open, you are going to open it yourself. Good for you!

Personal question: If you get your BAFT license could I pay you to facilitate the process of shipping my father in law's guns from WV to AZ, or would you still have to reside in one of those states?

I'm still hoping that they will call you, a regular paycheck could help you until your real business is off the ground.

Weapons dealers have probably been around almost as long* as the "first profession" and will probably be around much longer than physical prosthetics anyhow.

*the flint arrowhead and knife trade is very well recorded through archeology, I doubt that any records of the "first profession" are that old.

Not in the firearms trade, but my understanding is that to ship guns to a different state (I believe there is an exemption for guns you already own), they need to be shipped to a FFL licensed dealer in the destination state, and picked up from that dealer. Don't know if they need to be shipped from a FFL licensed dealer in the origin state.

I believe this was done as part of shutting down the mail-order gun business. Something about a guy named after a lucky rabbit being involved in a high-profile shooting in Texas.

You can ship guns to yourself. So if he lives in WV and is visiting AZ and didn't want to hassle flying with him he can send them to himself with restrictions. (USPS, traceing, being the one signing for them)
Other wise yes you have to contact an FFL to accept them in AZ and who ever picks them up would have to go through that states and fed background checks.

Either way I'm on the other side of the state from WV and min 6-8 months till I get an FFL so your better off with a local FFL in WV. If you don't know a FFL in AZ yet, look at gunbroker and they have listing of local FFL's you can contact who would accept them.

How ever once I get legit this will be one the things I can and would do.

Thanks for the info. This isn't something that has to be done right away, but it will need to be done at some point. We will probably just rent a car in WV next time we visit and just drive home with them. That's what we ended up doing with my Dad's guns.

Brag: I have the M1 Gerand that Dad carried in Korea. Its going to be great to have for the Zombie Apocalypse, reliable, effective and designed to be abused. Plus, its the shorter barreled "tanker", so it will be easier to move around in dark warehouses than with a full sized rifle.

Those are worth $$$$ now. Don't sell it.
I got 2 reg ones from Sec of the Navy. I only shoot one.

It would take a whole LOT of money to get me to sell that gun to a random stranger.

Dad had to be really drunk before he would talk about combat, and he wasn't that drunk very often, so I don't know how he got those 3 purple hearts we found after he died. (I knew about 1, not the other 2. I also didn't know about all of the bling he got for bravery and valor until after he died.)

That gun kept him alive during a very ugly time. He found a way to bring it home and kept it until he was too weak to shoot it, then gave it to someone he knew would treasure it.

Chances are very good that when the time comes to rehome that gun, I will give it to someone who will value it like I do.

Besides, if Max Brooks says that its the best long weapon to have during the Zombie Apocalypse, who am I to question him?
