This happened yesterday at work.
A co-worker of mine who was assigned to the cash register behind me had problems with the credit card/debit card reader. It stopped working. So her answer was to suspend the transaction after ringing up her customers groceries and have me take care of the customer when there were other customers in my line. I was at the cash register in front of her.
So she had the customer come to my line, in front of the line of customers waiting to be rung up, and have me take care of them first.
Then she went to lunch.
But then she returned to the same cash register, and the credit card/debit card reader still was not working.
I noticed that the Front End Manager did not fix that problem while she was on break.
So when she did this again, I asked her if she had told the Front End Manager about this problem. She said yes. The customer next in line at the cash register she was at told her that he was paying with his debit card and that he needed to go to a register where the card reader was working. She told him that she could ring up his groceries, suspend the order, and have him pay at the cash register I was at. There was a line of customer waiting at the cash register I was at when this happened.
He turned around and left.
She then said that she would move to a different cash register.
