I walked into the warehouse this morning to see about two dozen cases of chocolate bunnies (up from zero the other day). I see J and ask "Did someone screw up and triple our order?"
As I heard it, all the other stores way over-ordered and apparently didn't think they could get rid of them all in four days. Our store outsold them on the smaller bunnies, so...guess everyone else figured "let's send them to [city], they sold tons!" The majority of the transfer was the smaller ones, which J credited me with selling so much of...so this is my fault
On top of that we have a separate, scheduled delivery of same coming in at some point very soon So there are now bunnies everywhere...all the displays are full save one we really need now that was commandeered for the colombe, there are bunnies marching in formation up the stairs to the roof restaurant, we took over another display, they're breeding at the registers and QSR... (why am I reminded of the Father Ted episode with the rabbit infestation...?)
Front end is very happy as I've been ferrying them tons of bubblewrap for popping.
Today alone I must have culled one whole case worth of smashed small bunnies (45 of the things). D got the idea to sample the chocolate along with the colombe today. I might be bringing more home, maybe to melt down as J has challenged me to make an easter jackalope.
N thought that we should have a special sale where you buy a colombe and get one of the 6" or larger bunnies for 30% off...at least we'd make some money rather than having to let all of them go at half off.
