I was going to suggest you look at retail. I'm 60 also and have been in this retail job for 6 years now. The hours suck and the pay sucks, but it's a job. If you're lucky, your boss will appreciate your experience and work ethic.

However, I just read your last post where you talked about your retail job, so I guess that suggestion won't work. Sorry

Teefies2, I must have written that in such a way that it didn't come out as I intended. What bothered me about the office job is that my trainer had a problem of some sort with me ... but wouldn't talk to me about it. She just went into what was basically a two- to three-month-long sulk.

At my retail job, they don't do that -- they will haul you off to one side as soon as it's practical and say, "Look, we have a problem with something you said/did; here's the problem and we need to address it." I much prefer the latter. How the heck can I fix something if I've no idea what the problem is?

So I am definitely looking into retail/customer service positions far more now. This is two legal firms ... one big, one small ... that have (from my POV) screwed me over. I'm rapidly losing my enthusiasm for working in a legal firm.

        payday loan
Get that paid off ASAP. The interest tends to be egregious, and they're explicitly designed to get you into a cycle of "Get loan -- can't pay it all off -- get another loan to cover that -- can't pay it all off -- get another loan..." etc.

I think the laws covering these places are a bit tighter up here in the Frozen North, EricKei. That said, their interest levels are still atrocious. However, I cannot get a credit card because the loan is being used to pay off a long-overdue credit card balance. I also don't qualify for any kind of bank loan because my credit is pretty poor. This is how people end up at these places.

In all fairness, I've dealt with this company before, although never before with a long-term loan. They were quite straightforward about the payments, how long it will take, and the total interest I will be paying if I pay only the minimum each payment. The store also has a HUGE sign on the wall making it very clear the interest difference between their loans and a credit card.

I got the damn loan when I still had the office job and thought it would be no problem to pay it off, and even pay it off early. I can still pay it off, but possibly not early, at least not until I can get another part-time job or a fulltime job.
