Today was my first day and was absolutely amazing! Everybody is extremely friendly...90% of customers and all my co-workers. Instead of being greeted by sneers from employees who didn't recognize me (like my last job), they warmly introduced themselves with a handshake and made themselves available for any questions I may have.
I was thoroughly trained by the main manager and another employee whom I will be relieving once I'm fully trained so she can be trained on a higher position. They both made sure all my questions were answered. I picked up on things pretty quickly, and with their guidance I only made a couple minor mistakes. I had fully learned two of the three systems that front desk uses by the end of the first day today. Tomorrow, I go in and learn the third system, as well as different policies I must be aware of, and then it's all practice from there to get better!
I LOVE this new job!
P.S. - I now understand the torture most of you go through having to ask people for I.D. Some people act like it's one of life's many strugges to simply open a wallet and flash a drivers license. Oh well...hate to see their reaction when they actually have to *gasp* change into their workout gear, if little things like I.D. flashing require SO much effort.
