Nothing at my current place but at one place I volunteered for years ago they had a room that no-one wanted to be in alone. I tend to be a little sensitive to building & people so as soon as I walked in that room all I wanted to do was walk out. I heard people on the the stairs that weren't there and footsteps when I knew no-one else could be there. Creepy room to work in that one.

On the home front, the first house we lived in (me & my sister) we used to play with a ghost highland terrier. The place we live now has a poltergeist which is fun, it just loves my sisters stuff. It's nicked her keys and left on her pillow two week later, It nicked her mobile/cell phone once but regretted it when my husband rang it to find it and it vibrated, it dropped out of thin air right at my husbands feet and it tend to let me know when he's around when I'm on my own by moving doors or making noises in another room. We don't mind him (it feels like a him) and he seems to like us so we let him stay.

apparently, before I started there, the shop I'm in had to be exorcised. There's still a really nasty 'feeling' out back.

The theatre at my college was "haunted", of a sorts. We had a cursed light on the rigging. It worked perfectly fine, and was checked time and time again and no faulty wiring found, but when it was plugged in, all the rest of the electricity for the theatre would occasionally go crazy. We had one performance, the entire lights cut off for a five minute segment in the middle of the play. Actors kept going, bless them, didn't miss a line.

As theatre things do, rumors were jokingly spread that the light was possessed. Eventually someone named the ghost "The Colonel", and invented an elaborate backstory for him. For awhile, the light was simply left unplugged, but later was restored, and drinks were offered up as tributes to the ghost. Don't think there were any more problems with it, though they never did "fix" the "wiring problem".

My mum and dad live in a flat in a 17th Century building. The local paper did and article on it being haunted. I swear I can hear someone else walking around when I'm the only one there. My mum and dad have told me tales of things falling down, aparently of their own accord.

Behind the flat is the local churchyard, and right outside the kitchen window is a tomb with the name Charles so-and-so, so the the ghost is nicknamed Charlie. Whenever my mum gets in late at night and no-one has been in the flat, she opens the front door and shouts "BOO!" to scare Charlie away.

That sounds like some form of house spirit. Poltergeists are almost never any fun to be around, and much of the time are a manifestation caused by a specific person rather than any form of haunting.

I've had house spirits that would hide things and then return them to exactly where I had looked in the first place and the like. Usually it was a sign that there was straightening up that needed to be done.

A few friends of mine worked in a small building, it was a recently opened business. and they were the first employees. They claimed all sorts of weird things happened there and that it was haunted. Turns out 2 of the friends did not know just how sneaky and methodical a prankster the 3rd was. He gave me some interesting ideas.... but I don't have the nerve to try some of them. Since the building I work in is claimed to be haunted by my fellow guards, despite the fact I have seen nothing in the 2 years I have worked here alone at night, I could cause all sorts of chaos..... I just don't have it in me though... blah.

This thread reminds me that we haven't had a good haunting story from Misanthropical lately...
