The problem, as I was told when in biology class many moons past, is that the best way to be when in a traumatic accident is relaxed. Drunk people tend to be more relaxed - they fare better.

I remember someone telling me once that if you're about to get into a crash and there's nothing you can do to prevent it, the best thing you can do is relax your body.

Right.

"Oh my God! In a split second, I'm going to slam into another vehicle head-on at 100 km/hour! Oh well. C'est la vie. I guess I'll just put my feet up and light a smoke."

You'd HAVE to be drunk to have that kind of reaction.

Exactly the point, really... also the reason Drunken Boxing, in its purest form, involves downing Sake when you're expecting a fight.

My friend who just got his 3rd DUI.........he got extremely drunk on the 4th of July and put his car into the ditch. He said that he didn't even remember what happened when he came to. Then he instantly ran away to get help, but his dumbass came running back to his car just as the police showed up.

I think he was too drunk to understand that if someone sees an upside down car in the ditch, they are going to call the cops.
