Until Micro$oft fixes their Vista bugs stick with XP.

My dad and I tried out Vista for a while and we both agreed that it's garbage. It does look pretty but it'll be lucky if it doesn't turn into a ME again.

My other gripe aside from all that mentioned is that it stole a few things from Mac OS X's software. The Aero interface for example is similar to this picture below.

While they're not exactly twins the idea came from there.

Reasons to upgrade? Just think of the MS employees--they have families...

      ...vacationing Europe!

Seriously though, I didn't go near XP for a long time until I played around with it a bit. My XP Home OEM copy cost $92 from Newegg, but it has SP2 already in it and after customizing, it does all I want. I could have used my copy of Win98SE, but I mentioned my reasons earlier.

As for Vista, I'm sure it will be perfected in time and will eventually be good--hopefully by the time we're forced to buy it when building or buying a new machine.

That reminded me of a conversation I had with one of our CS profs.

Me:"OWA (Outlook Web Access) doesn't work with IE7 and Vista. For now, we suggest using Firefox."
Prof: "I can't. I have a son that works for Microsoft."
Me: "Then you can downgrade to IE6."
Prof: Aghast "I'm not going to downgrade!!!"
Me: "Then I suggest checking your mail on a computer that does not have Vista on it!"
Prof: "Can't you guys fix it?"
Me: "Yes, it's simply the matter of installing a patch on the server. But since there is a completely valid and simple work around, the server guys will worry about that once they get the backup server back up, fix the mail servers, get the VM server configured and running....., etc. Any other questions?"
        Prof: "Um.. no."
