I bought a SATA/IDE to USB converter for work (well, two of them) from NewEgg ($13 each).
The first one I opened works great, no issues, but then when I used the second one the plastic pin supports on the 2.5" IDE side broke off. I contacted NewEgg and they're sending me a replacement, no need for a RMS (I guess since it's so cheap).
Cool. So, I take the power supply from the DOA one since I needed to do a SATA data transfer and sure enough, as soon as it was plugged in I hear a loud POP and smoke coming out of the power supply. I open it up, the fuse inside it exploded and burned the transformer, heat sink, and a few components nearby. I guess this one was a REAL lemon!!
