As regular CSers will know, I work for a community bank that has branches in 2 US states. The main branch, where the bank is incorporated , is in the other state. Our branch often feels like an afterthought.
Like now. The bank decided to change what software we use for documents for loans and deposit accounts. The new software is supposed to integrate seamlessly with our core system. But even at the main branch, they’ve been having issues.
I was told to do a practice loan in the test environment. I followed the instructions, but when I got to the end, it wouldn’t let me view the documents. It turns out the setup hadn’t been completed for my state.
I emailed the employee who’s been coordinating training and bug reports. She contacted the software team, and they sent her a document with options for our state. She had no idea what to do with the information, so she sent it to me. I don’t really know what to do with it, either. I kind of know which option we should pick, but I’m not management. It shouldn’t be my responsibility to make decisions like this that could have huge consequences for the bank. I’m not a lawyer!
And that’s basically what I told her.
