Wait...there's a site that has the sole purpose of hating on us?

...pehaps I shall browse google now...I'm so curious!
Its nice to know we wrankle sufficiently for it to be so.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

After browsing on google, I found mostly "about" sites, various links to blogs, and a post on stubleupon.com about vinegar boy(most of the commentors thought it was hilarious).

I also found some old drama/wankage from a member that was banned and posted about how it was unfair that she was banned from CS on some other site for ranters. Basically, Raps and the mods totally pwned her. But that's all ancient history. No one should get mad about it because it's been long since taken care of. Other than that, I really didn't find much.

I guess that's testament to how well those "anti" sites are doing, if there are any.

We very rarely get people sending in hate mail - maybe a couple of pieces a year. Most of it is fairly illiterate and all in capitals. I rather suspect I know the one you mean, Gabrielle. Just another bit of punctuation in the history of this site.

I think I actually get more attempts to mimic this place than anything trying to hate us. Before I took up the flag, there were disaffected members who started up their own attempts at being lord and master, and they came to naught. Last year there was one guy who really made me blink. I've been wondering about telling this tale in moderate fullness, since it's once of those that you just gawp at - bit like a trainwreck. A fellow Brit offered me a commercial deal of some sort involving this one, but money isn't my motivator. I didn't reply immediately, but looked at his email address, did some googling, and found a forum that had the same software as here, the same skin, and most of the same forum names. The rules were a cut'n'paste of here, saving editing the names involved. Ree's post about "What constitutes a War Story" was copied word for word.

Needless to say, I took the very professional step of finding his address via WHOIS and sending him a birthday card with a badge (button?) attached featuring Scooby Doo wishing him a happy sixth birthday.

He was offering people prizes for the best post, reckoned he could pay mods as well as make money for himself, spammed myspace accounts, and ended up getting maybe a dozen posts a month. If anyone knows where this site is, or finds it via google, please keep it to yourselves. The situation is still being monitored (though not very closely).

Depending on how you look at it, all of us have a little bit of snarky/sucky customer in us and we of course read this site

I was really glad I found this site through an article on MSN. I've read a couple other sites, but this one takes politeness and respect for fellow posters and (dare I say it) sucky customers very seriously. I have found fellow posters to be decent, intelligent human beings and genuinely willing to offer advice when a poster requests it.

Perhaps that is what SCs viewing this site find so darn offensive

I've been on this (and it's various incarnations) since 2002. I enjoy this site as a place of quietly witty snark. I like that there are different opinions to customers, co-workers and "superiors."

I remember all of that Raps. I remember when the previous owner allowed SC to post their opinion and I was gobsmacked that no one knew proper grammar.

I'm glad that those posters don't post anymore.

Yes, nothing will make me care about your complaint like hearing about, "how ur site is trash!!!1 U guys suck! Im goin to start a new site that wont suck like this site!"

How's that working out for you so far?
Given that that dry pool diving team member uses grammar and punctuation in such a way that it looks like their keyboard threw up, I'd say starting up their own Web site that doesn't suck is pretty much impossible.

                My CS "success story"

I have to admit, I was pointed toward this site because I was being a SC. Really. I was horribly horribly rude to a kid working a drive thru because I was having a bad day and got tired of repeating myself over and over. In hindsight, I should have understood, having had that job myself. Needless to say, the kid told me to "go read about yourself on customerssuck.com"

Well, I never read about myself, ha, but I did come to realize what a SC I was being, learned the error of my ways, and starting posting about SC's of my own.

That kid did me a HUGE favor.

I found this site through stumbleupon. Yeah, the vinegar boy story is amazing.

Unless something goes on around here at night while I'm at work, there are minimal to no trolls around here. That's what I love. The other boards I used to post on (which I could see was even a bigger target for hate than this site, it was like CS except for servers and restaurant folk) attracted several trolls a day. You'd log on and see nothing but half a page of illiterate posts and members attacking back. Since that place wasn't as nicely and closely moderated as this one, flame wars and whatnot ensued for days.

Makes me glad this place is so safe and fun.

All new members are moderated for a period. It means we as mods have to check for moderated posts, which is easy, but I can think of two neo nazis who aren't around after trying to spread their filth here, and no member had to put up with them. There were at least two separate people who registered just to harass different members of the board, and they got nowhere. We don't get many spammers, but the ones we do get don't get seen. We get them all.

Raps, you and the moderators are my heroes! I admit that I don't post very often, mostly because I don't work with customers anymore (I work in a cubicle farm!), but I read posts everyday. I love how this site is moderated. Everyone's opinion is respected and even heated discussions are civil. It is such a breath of fresh air in the murky world of the internet.

Bah. Reminding me to go check the queue. Silly people.

Ooh, queue is empty. I like that.
