So they are redoing a bunch of the college. New flooring and new wall paneling. Our department is right by the bookstore and for the last week or so they have been ripping up the old tile and carpet so that they can put in new tile. The bookstore only has one main entrance usually and so people have been having to detour to one of the exterior doors that is never used. Today they are doing bigger areas of tile meaning that the small food area is going to also have to operate through a different front counter.
You know those divider things that are used to direct lines (pilars with ribon like thing that unspools from inside and then clips to the next pilar)? Well we have those set up around the front of areas that are being worked on, including the usual door to the bookstore. It's amazing how many people have tried to duck under it and go into the bookstore. And they always get that startled, dear in the headlights look when you tell them they can't go that way.
I can't wait till they start doing the front of our area and people are trying to come up and take care of stuff. Especially when all the teachers are going to be wanting their keys so they can get into their classes on Monday.
