This happened to me once in the church office - I forget who/what the salesman was calling about, but I answered the phone with my usual spiel of "ParisHilton church, this is Kelly", and the guy immediately asked if he could speak to my mom or dad.

My wife got that at home "Could I speak to your mom or dad" or something along those lines.

She told them they'd have to call her Mom's house since she doesn't live with us.

I get the exact opposite problem, people very often mistake my voice for my fathers, sogreat, I have the voice of a 53 year old.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

OK, EQ, what you need to do, since you get more than a couple of these, is ge a helium balloon; when they ask to speak to 'an adult', you say, "Just a moment", inhale some helium straight from the balloon, and get back on the phone.

Me: Good afternoon, thank you for calling <Hotel> this is EQ, how can I help you?
LOP: Hi, I'm calling from <mountain magazine? I didn't quite catch it>. Can I speak to an adult?
Me: ...I am an Adult and listen carefully. You're calling a Business. Please take us off your calling list.

...I may have been a Sucky Employee. You be the judge.
Well, it was her fault for not listening to your opening spiel. Children generally don't work at hotels.

I couldn't do phone sales for a living. I can't always tell if I'm speaking to a man or woman, child or adult over the phone. They usually can't tell what I am, either!
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Really, I get it more often then you would think. I may say that next time.
You wouldn't be lying at least. Think about it, how many people at your company can you say act like an adult?

I once answered the phone to a telemarketer who asked to speak to one of my parents. I replied with my standard home-alone line: "they're not available at the moment, can I take a message?" And the lady says to me "oh sweetie, who's taking care of you?" I replied that I was 18 (which was the truth at the time!) and hung up. I sound 14, I look 16, I can't help it!

It really amuses me that there are other people who get confused for kids over the phone! That's awesome!
Michael: Maybe you'll be inspired by the boat party tonight and start a career as a pirate.
Tobias: I haven't packed for that.
