Good ideas, but probably not okay since I will be doing this in front of customers. Unlike last year, we're most likely not going overnight.

There's no excuse for endangering your health. The hell with the customers seeing you. Considering that most of it is manufactured in that land o'lead based paint I'd take the risk seriously.
