OK! Got a call from the other store's GM today. He said he'd been speaking with Professor X and they are going to finalize a date for my transfer, pending a few administrative loose ends and getting through Black Friday and the weekend. But this could be as soon as next week!
Now, I will have to pass a 30 day evaluation period with them, during which time I will be given some extra responsibilities to see how I handle it, and if I do well, they'll begin training towards the ultimate goal of making me their Customer Service Lead.
So as long as I don't screw up, it looks like I got it!!
Edited to add: They are going to get back to me on Monday to finalize everything. Obviously trying to do that now would be insane, since everyone is up to their ass in Black Friday prep right now.
