I've been working for a small business since the summer. I really like everyone there; the owner is a great guy, the staff are all nice, non-crazy people (the ones that stay, anyway; we've had a few part timers who lasted less than a week...), and even the customers are MUCH nicer than anywhere else I've worked. So that all becomes a nice positive-reinforcement cycle and it's a good place to be.
A couple of weeks ago, we had our Christmas party where the boss took everyone out to a nice restaurant and we all stuffed ourselves with delicious food and were happy. I thought that was that; after all, it's a small business and I wouldn't expect the owner to be spending huge amounts of money on holiday goodies, especially if we're looking at higher prices for a lot of our stock that comes in from the US.
Yesterday I picked up my paycheque and found in it a very generous bonus. I can't say how much, exactly, but I wasn't expecting anything at all, and the biggest Xmas bonus I have ever received anywhere was $50... when I was working full time at a higher wage than right now. So especially in proportion, this was... wow.

So - I will be making something for the boss for a Christmas present! (He lives on his own - divorced long ago, kids are grown and moved away - so I am thinking a freezer full of home-baked treats may be in order. And maybe a pair of mittens with a connector string because he keeps losing his gloves and everyone teases him about that).
