  • Upcoming time off

I have several events that I take part in every year, sometimes several times a year. The primary ones are a silent retreat with my church (literally, two days spent in silence at a monastery--HEAVEN for an introvert!) and a camping trip into the desert (the mud caves of the Anza-Borrego, if you must know: http://www.hiddensandiego.com/wiki/i...Arroyo_Tapiado)

This year, both trips are back-to-back weekends, requiring me to take two half-days off from work. Which my boss just approved without question.

Did I mention that my supervisor is pretty damn awesome?

Cool! It's good to be able to get away from wacky work land, even if only for a little while. ^_^.

I'll be having some time off coming up in the next couple of weeks, and I need it as I've been pretty stressed out lately.

It is frakkin' AMAZING. Extroverts always go a little nuts, and seem to manage to make plenty of noise without talking, but even so, it's still so quiet...lots of time to read, think, or whatever. Very very nice. I go every time I get a chance.

          Ooo. That DOES sound heavenly...

Normally I use my bike time to get the silence I need, but winter is messing that up! (I don't dare ride when there's this much ice on the roads and paths - I can't afford to fall and put my hands out of commission as I have an art show coming up in April).

I think I need to figure something out though. I had a meltdown last night that I finally traced to having been around people for ten days straight with NO time to just read by myself and decompress (I love The Boy but he is an extrovert extraordinaire and has NO CLUE why I need to retreat; he thinks I am upset and that he needs to do something to cheer me up... augh!)

There are a lot of retreat centers around, both religious and non-religious, that offer one or two day retreats. Might check and see if there are any in your area--it's totally worth it. Also, in a pinch, I find that a trip alone to an art museum has much the same effect--I go alone, and find a room with my favorite art in it, and just sit in there soaking it all in for an hour or two. Very calming. I wish more people understood how introverts function...

Also, check out http://livingintroverted.com, that's a good blog.
