my spiel: "You can either park here for a $5.00 flat rate from one minute to all day or at the metered lot behind your car"
Male customer here to get some information:
me: "Hi, how may I help you?"
male customer: "Is this where visitor's park?"
me: my spiel
male customer: "Where are the meters?"
me: "Right behind your car under the freeway"
male customer: "Do I have to pay even though I am getting information?"
*Well.. you are parking in the garage. So, yes you have to pay*
me: "Yes, everyone has to pay the $5.00 flat rate"
Surprised look on his face. He backs up & parks at the metered lot.
Female customer here to take a placement test:
Several people had already arrived for the placement test, & they were all informed that the could 1) park in the Visitor parking garage for a $5.00 flat rate from one minute to all day or 2) at the metered lot.
When this customer arrived, I let her know the above information.
female customer: "Where do students park"
me: *Well... you are not a student yet, & so you cannot park at the student lots. Plus you have to have a student parking pass*
"If you are enrolled in the school & have a student parking pass you can park at the student lots. But, everyone has to pay the $5.00 flat rate."
Surprised look on her face. She backs up & parks at the metered lot.
Female customer going to the library:
me: "Hi, how may I help you?"
female customer: "I'm going to the library, but I am not a student"
me: my spiel
female customer: "Well..I'm only here for 2 hours"
me: "Well...since 2 hours falls in between one minute & all day, everyone has to pay the $5.00 flat rate."
Surprised look on her face. She backs up & parks at the metered lot.
Now, why would these customers think I would let them out for free when they were told by me it is a $5.00 flat rate to park in Visitor Parking from one minute to all day?
