Yesterday, a customer came to the service desk to return and buy some stuff. I saw that she paid with a gift card so I asked for her gift card which she had. I did the return first and put that back on the gift card. Then I did the sale and that was put on the gift card.
The customer was confused by the amount and mentioned that the employee who checked her out earlier told her the amount that was left on the gift card. I pointed out that the employee probably misread the receipt which can happen if the ink is faded and hard to read and that it's a good idea to double check the receipt and I eventually got through to her that the amount on her current reciept was correct.
