  • I love how the law protects the big guy...

Since I was rather bitter over being fired, I decided to send an anonymous letter to the department of labor and turn them in for some stuff they had violated.

I chose to be anonymous for several reasons....one is that I'm concerned that since I didn't report it SOONER, they may try to 'go after' me for some of it, or go after some friends I have in the company who also know about this stuff but are remaining silent because they were threatened with their jobs.

another reason is that I don't want the company to retaliate against those same friends, which they may if they knew it was me. i don't trust the "we won't tell" speech.

the third reason is I just plain don't want to deal with hassle. i don't want to have to go to court, testify, have some lawyer argue with me provoke me into getting all pissy, and now i've got a criminal threatening case against me too....

    No f'ing thanks.

So I just wrote an anonymous e-mail describing what happened. Records are there, everything they need is all set.

But oh no, they "need" my name and phone number. Just NEED it. Why? All the info is already there. What difference does my name mean? The facts either check out or they don't.

Yeah no shit...I know that if I ran a big giant corporation, I'd have all kinds of "inside" people who could tip me off and help me prepare if there was some type of violation, lawsuit or other trouble that could hurt me...as I assume these guys do as well.

Actually, I'd guess they need your name to weed out the nuts and serial whiners* from the legitimate complaints. I mean, can you imagine what kind of nutcases that line must draw? It probably makes GK's callers look tame.

*Not people with lots of legitimate complaints, but those who blow everything out of proportion.

In Texas there's something referred to as the 'Whistleblower' Law. IDK where you are, but they might have something similar.

Yes. It's likely that they get way more complaints than they can investigate given their resources and budget, so they have to pick and choose which ones are worth persuing.

Anonymous complaints are hard to prove. So they are going to be lower priority than those where they have a name and contact information. Hence the requirement for a name and number.

The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.
