Slow server?

I'm during a security wipe on a server that is being decommissioned. 3 formats. It's about 55% done.

I started it last Wed...

This is what happens when ONE drive in your array goes bad.

I don't know if the 55% is only the first format or all 3...

Actually that isn't so surprising. If you're wiping a huge drive, it will take a while to do. And in your case, odds are you're having to write all 1s one one sweep then all 0s and on a final sweep random data.

In the case of my aging sun, it takes a long time to format a 60g disk (I gave up on the confirming format after 10 hours).
