Hubby and I got some paper gift vouchers for a local shopping centre for our wedding. Most of the big centres all use gift cards now, so it was a surprise to get old fashioned paper ones.

Had heaps of fun spending them though

Kroger has a rewards Credit Card. And they issue the rewards it little gift check things. We treat them as checks though. Still we do occasionally get gift cert. from manufactures. The one I see the most often is issued by Similac (baby formula). It has an MIRC but says on it to not run it through a MIRC reader so we do it as a Gift Cert.

And we actually use the gift Cert. tender pretty often in the service desk so we have it fresh in our minds how to do one.

There's a wonderful custard/steak burger place near here called Freddy's. Last time I went in, I noticed an advertisement on their wall for paper gift certificates. Because 'Freddy prefers them'... *shrug*

I don't think this has changed since I worked there (about a year ago), but Canadian Chevron's use paper gift certificates. I've heard that american Chev's take gift cards, but you can't use those at Canadian ones.

We had special security things to prevent them from being copied, but we really never had a problem with that happening. They're rung through as cash too.
