The parking office staff report to campus police. "Andrea", the director of parking & transportation, reports to the university police chief.
For the first couple of weeks, any student can park at the student lots without a permit because the student lots are free for the first couple of weeks. You will not receive a citation for the first couple of weeks.
The parking office & campus police, including the campus police chief, have different views regarding allowing students to park in Visitor parking. "Andrea" & "Nancy", who both work in the Parking office, will allow students to park in Visitor parking as long as the garage is not reserved & the student is willing to pay the $5.00 parking fee. "Melody", who works in the Parking office, has a different viewpoint. She wants all students to park in the student lots & not in Visitor parking. Campus police, including the police chief, feel the same way "Melody" feels.
Campus police directed all students to park at the student lots today instead of Visitor parking.
A couple of students asked me how long can't they park in Visitor parking today. So I call campus police, who direct me to Visitor parking.
I call Visitor parking, & "Nancy" answers the phone. I tell her why I am calling. She tells me as long as the garage is not reserved & the student is willing to pay the $5.00 they can park.
This is a mess. I wish both departments would communicate with each other, & I wish everyone would come to an agreement.
