My work is currently doing fundraising for one of the hospitals. In the past, most of our fundraising has been through the following:
1) Jeans day-wear your jeans to work.
2) Casual day-we tried this ONCE. Too many people turned up wearing non-work safe clothing (i.e. bare arms, tight t-shirts, low-cut tops etc.) We were still required to wear name badges and closed-in shoes, but the SM wasn't too happy.
3) Sausage sizzles. Usually done by our manager.
4) Collection tins.
This year, we've got the following set up:
1) Collection tins.
2) Selling packs of cookies and the like through the lunchroom for a gold coin donation. (also provides us a chance to road-test some of the foods for customers )
3) Jeans day (twice.) I should probably say it's more like jeans weekend, since we can wear them over the weekend rather than for one day.
4) Carnival/circus weekend. (dress up as clowns)
5) Mad Hatter weekend. (crazy hats)
6) Wig and Tie. (craziest wig/tie.)
7) Footy fever. (Aussie Rules Footy themed, meant to wear your team colours.)
8) Doctors, patients and nurses. (this one just had me )
9) Superheroes and villains.
(the above are all for a gold coin donation btw-basically, $1 and $2 coins.)
Out of that lot, I plan on doing 3 when the second opportunity rolls around, I've done 2 (bought some really yummy cookies ), maybe number 4, number 5 and maybe number 9.
Basically, what I'm wanting to ask, is....I'm a little stuck on ideas.
I do NOT want to be caught out in tights if I can help it, especially for number 9. For number 4, I'm only gonna paint my face if I can do so, and maybe try my hand at doing other people's. (there's a costume shop not too far from work) I want to keep the ideas simple if I can, and possibly get some tips?
Number 5 I've got worked out, mostly because what I have in mind is gonna be recycled for a class project. Basically, every year when the fair comes to town, there's a few booths that sell devil's horns. I usually get them, because people find it funny....since I'm usually the "nice girl" at work and the like, they get a kick out of me in devil's horns. Technically, it's not a hat, but the idea is that we're meant to be crazy and well....how often do I get to wear non-block coloured headbands? (The class project is a French fairytale, involving a gentleman cursed with horns.)
Number 9 is where I'm really stuck. If I can clear it with work, I was planning on cosplaying, but nothing too elaborate and nothing too skimpy either. Since capes aren't really gonna be worksafe, I was basically wanting to ask for ideas.
So basically, to sum up.
Does anyone have any ideas that I can use for the weekends I had planned?
Also, share your stories of your own themed weekends/weeks at work.
