Oh, and there's Skippy aka Lance...I called him Skippy, because when you'd talk to him, he nod his head and smile...rather like a puppy. He was also called Lance because he had a more than passing resemblence to Lance Bass. <------Also one half of the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

I get "LilyWhite" (and thus my username) and "Kris-chin" at work because this old, senile, dirty-minded Japanese man I work with thought I only ate at "lily white" (read: american) restaurants. At the time, of course, I was living primarily on Mexican and various Asian foods. He also has a hard time saying "Kristin", so he just calls me Kris-chin.
Lately I've been getting "Goldfish" and "Dory-munk" because I apparently have the attention span of a goldfish (and Dory from Finding Nemo).
Most people at work have nicknames. We have T, Mix, Scary, Tranny Stepmom, DS (applicable to all), Monster, D-- Bottoms, etc. Thing is, we don't really call each other by anything else - except surnames - so we all tend to forget that we have "real" names.

I have had a ton of nicknames, cause my first name is European, 5 syllables long, and mostly unpronounceable to Americans. I do phone work, and have for many years, so I need to have smaller easy to understand names to use on the phone.
At the job I'm at now I go by Dove. Nickname from college, because I have a pair of 'Sailor Jerry' style doves tattooed on my calves.
When I worked for the newspaper I was known as 'the pink tornado'. This was because I have a predeliction for wearing pink, and I was infamous for flying through the offices Tasmanian devil style trying to get something done before deadline.
Various others I have had---
'The Kissing Bandit', at my first job in high school cause I was in love with the dishwasher and we used to get caught by the other waitresses making out in the walk-in after closing. He was known as 'The kissing fool'. They called us bandit and fool for short.
'weirdo' (behind my back) at the casino cause it was in redneck central---all the other girls were scared of me cause I read lots of esoteric stuff, listened to club music/world music/old jazz and wasn't interested in their gossip concerning who was screwing who that week.
My Hispanic neighbors in Santa Fe used to call me 'Bikini Rosada' because during the summer I'd work on my car in the driveway in a pink bikini. I kid you not, those guys used to come out and sit in their yard in lawn chairs with 6-packs to watch me work on the car.
My old Boss Viv used to call me 'Nieta' (granddaughter) because we were so close. She was quite a bit older than me but we adored each other.
'Shotsy', 'Sia' and 'Stace' I've used for jobs before, all shortened variations on my given name. One guy I worked with used to call me 'Drew' because he thought I looked like Drew Barrymore.Last edited by ThePhoneGoddess; 12-25-2006, 12:13 PM.Because as we all know, on the Internet all men are men, all women are men and all children are FBI agents.
