Isn't it so easy to make? I absolutely refuse to buy shortbread because of that.
3 sticks of softened butter. Cup of powdered sugar, cornstarch and 2&1/4(ish) cups of flour. Mix. Done.

The recipe on my box says to steep the teabags in milk and use it as the liquid. But I thought shortbread only had butter, flour and sugar. The proportions they give are 4 teabags, 1/4 cup milk, 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 1/2 sticks butter.
Yeah, that's not shortbread. The recipe I use is from the "Celtic Folklore Cookbook" by Joanne Asala. These are the actual instructions, but I usually do it in a food processor.

        1 3/4 cups flour
        4 Tbs sugar
        pinch of salt
        1 stick of butter
1 tsp farina (cream of wheat)
        1 egg yolk, beaten
        2 Tbs milk

Combine flour, sugar, and salt, Cut in butter until crumbly. Make a well in center and pour in egg yolk and milk. Work into a smooth dough. Transfer to a an 8-inch pan and spread out evenly to sides. Crimp edges with a fork and mark slices. Prick all over with fork. Chill for 30 minutes. Heat oven to 400F and bake for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to 300F and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Should be a pale golden color. Remove from oven and cut into slices while still warm. Do not attemp to remove from pan until cooled.

Bake?? Why would you ruin such perfect dough by baking it??
