Yesterday, the grocery store I work at closed 3 hours early. It turned out that most of the employees called out because of the weather.

Last weekend our store closed at 8 p.m. (last Saturday I think) because of the road conditions we had . . . combined with the fact that they couldn't hardly get anyone in to work.
I'm sure permission was given from home office to do so . . . our store managers don't have the authority to make that call on their own, so they have to contact the District Manager, who in turn has to get the okay from home office.
Luckily though when I left Friday right after 6, the roads were slushy and the snow had changed to rain. We just didn't expect the monsoon to start halfway home though.Human Resources - the adult version of "I'm telling Mom." - Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (NCIS)

Bah, never saw anything like that here. Back in December we had an epic storm. The store was quite open. Everyone made it but me, because the street I live on was undrivable with drifts at either end.
Yet we had a fire in the store one day that closed us down for three hours. Three hours doesn't seem like a lot of time to be closed, but when you're sitting there outside waiting for things to reopen and shoo'ing people away from the store due to smoke, it can seem like a long time.SC: "Are you new or something?"
Me: "Yes. Your planet is very backwards I hope you realize."
