First job: Movie theater concession stand-we counted our own tills until about 2 weeks before I was fired. I always balanced out to the penny--until I no longer counted my own till. Suddently I kept coming up short. I was fired for this "reason." Also, two other girls, who were discovered to be under the minimum work age were let go at the same time.
Every other job I ever worked, where I was the only one touching my money, I almost always balanced out to the penny. The only time I was ever off any significant amount (over 10 cents) was when someone else worked my drawer.
The last time I cashiered, was during registration for the college. I would take in over double what the other cashiers would, in excess of $15,000 (cash, not counting checks and credit cards) per shift, yet I still balanced out every time, and I was the ONLY one touching my drawer.
I'm so glad I don't handle money any more
