THE breaking point, or just A breaking point?

I think you can definitely do this job My ex-bf does something similar (he's a community supervisor for a company that runs group homes for mentally retarded adults) and while it can be draining, he finds it very rewarding... at least he did last time I spoke to him.... It was the type of job that no matter how bad his supervisor treated him, he'd never leave because he genuinely CARED about the clients and loved the work he did. (and his supervisor treated him pretty badly... but that's what you get for having an affair with the supervisor! okay, I'm wayyyy off topic now)

The thing is, you WANT to make a difference, and you have the youth and the energy to care. I think you're not only qualified, but you'll do a fantastic job, and you'll come to love it, even if it can be unpleasant at times.

This worm just keeps on turning...

I went to the recovery center on Monday to sit in on another staff meeting, and then attend a seminar. After the meeting, I met with the director of Community Support, who told me that he thought I'd gone through enough interviews, and that he wanted me to start on the 21st. I told everyone. Put in my notice here at the hotel.

The only ominous note was that the director told me that the company is doing some heavy duty restructuring due to management problems from the previous owners, who happen to be the parents of one of my friends who works up there. The director said that what he is in essence trying to do is build up two good teams, one at each office, then use these teams to form a new company when the existing one tanks. He gave it a few months, and did not expect the place to survive as it was for another year.

Today I got a call from the director saying that a meeting yesterday had uncovered the fact that finances were even worse than previously thought. In addition to not being able to hire me, they're going to have to lay people off. So, I had to call my boss here and tell her not to put the ad in the paper, so at least I have a job. I may hate it, but it's money.

So anyway, in a nutshell, as of Monday I had a new job that paid $3 more per hour, and offered health insurance, a gas card, and paid for mileage. As of 12:30 today, I no longer had that job. I'm supposed to call again in another month though, as the director assures me that he'll keep a "tickler file" (which sounds dirty) on me.

Also today, my boyfriend found out that his lupus has almost certainly worsened from discoid to systemic, which means that we have organ failure and possible blindness and psychosis to look forward to. My only solace today has come from being rude to guests.

You can always be rude to me if the customers aren't cooperating... *hug* sorry the job didn't pan out I was in uni (and was friends with) a girl who had systemic lupus. Sucks big huge rocks I'm sorry your boyfriend is having to go through that.

Since this is where I mentioned it, this is where I will update. For those of you who offered your condolences about the lupus, thank you. Thankfully, however, the lab results came back earlier in the week, and while they're abnormal and seem to indicate systemic, further tests prove that it's not. Now, the approach the doctor wants to take is to try and figure out exactly why he's in so much pain all the time if that's not the reason.
