As the title says there's a thing about my job I like: counting the tills at close. Why you ask? Well, yesterday I found a 1959 dime in the till. Why is that a big deal you ask? Dimes, quarters and halves made 1964 and before were made with 90% silver, thus that dime is worth between $1 and $1.5 based on the spot price of silver. Soon as I saw that I quickly replaced it with a modern dime and put it in my safe with my other silver. Over the years I've found dimes, quarters, halves (including a Ben Franklin half) and Canadian silver quarters in the till, along with some silver $1 certificates, all swapped out with modern currency. I've also found many wheat pennies, and old Canadian cents in the till, and one time going through a roll of pennies I found a 1908 Indian Head penny.
So have any of you found any interesting money in your tills?
