Customer asks me to ring later and leave a message with his father.His father is called Penelope he says.

I am confused.I wonder if his father is "of a different gender".I do not want to get it wrong.

I repeat back to the customer "ok you want me to leave a message with your father and you say your father is called Penelope"

Customer "no I said he was called Jeremy"

me - I'm sorry I misheard you.

Don't feel bad. These days I don't take anything for granted (hell, there's a basketball player named LaceDarius...yes, it's a guy)....and some words are hard to make out on the phone.
